On Friday, September 20, Microgaming's managing director announcedthat they will be shutting down the Microgaming Poker Network. The decision whichcame as surprise to the entire online poker community is set to be implementedin either the second quarter or the third quarter of next year – no specificdate has been announced yet.
MPN was one of the first networks to offer anonymous tables in 2010 and mobile poker software months later. In 2014, MPN also launched a live tournament series called the MPN Poker Tour. Alex Scott, managing director of MPN penned a letter to the poker community confirming the news and giving more clarification on various customer concerns. In his statement, he revealed that Microgaming has carried out an extensive review into the poker network as a product. This review was conducted in conjunction with independent consults, poker industry experts as well as other global stakeholders in the world of poker.
'The conclusion of the review was that, for poker to beas successful as possible, we had to adopt a very different strategy andbusiness model. Ultimately, the poker network is not part of that vision,'Alex Scott revealed.
While the decision to end the poker network was a very tough one especially considering that it has been in operation for over 16 years, Microgaming Chief Executive John Coleman believes that it was the right time for such a move. The company will now be focusing on the redistribution of some of its key resources and personnel across the business.

Until the network officially shuts down in 2020, business will continue as usual. The 5-star Melia Princesa enjoys an excellent location in the cultural heart of Madrid.
Enjoy the history and heritage of Madrid visiting iconic locations such as Plaza de España, Puerta del Sol or the Royal Palace, all just a short walk away.
